Two previously adjourned GOC disciplinary cases will be heard next week.
The separate cases were both postponed in February when the defendants failed to appear.
On May 3 the case of Marwan Joseph Mesmar will be heard. He will face a charge of serious professional misconduct. It alleged that during an appointment with a patient who complained of problems with his vision on July 21 2003, the Chertsey-based DO did not assess the patient's visual acuity and did not refer the patient to a registered medical practitioner.
The next day Jeremy Stephen Fox, who is based in Kingston-upon-Thames, is scheduled to appear, and is separately charged with serious professional misconduct.
The basis of the charge is that on or about July 22 2003 he allegedly completed and signed a form GOS18, 'containing clinical information in respect of the patient without having examined the patient'.
Details of both cases are available at www.optical.org
