The Optical Confederation has asked optical professionals attending the government's local listening events on NHS reforms to raise debate on the profession's skills.

With a two-month pause in the parliamentary progression of the current health bill while the government consults with stakeholders around the country, the Confederation revealed that the government was particularly keen to hear from health professionals.

It added that the listening events were 'unlikely to change policy dramatically'. A number of points were made to local optical committee (LOC) members and optical professionals attending the events by the Local Optical Committee Support Unit (LOCSU), which is part of the Confederation.
