The College highlighted that optical practices experience an increase in the number of people complaining about difficulty reading at this time of the year.
Daniel-Hardiman-McCartney, clinical adviser for the College, said: ‘Typically this will be from people in their late-30s to mid-40s, who may have noticed that occasionally they have had to hold things further away, but ‘their arms are now not long enough’ to see print clearly.’
Guidance stated that if patients have noticed a change, they should book a sight test to check if presbyopia was the cause.
