John Boxall, a production manager at Batemans Laboratories in Godalming, was recently congratulated by Nicholas Bateman for 40 loyal years with the company.
Boxall joined the company in 1965 when he began his working life as an apprentice technician at the Laboratories. He also successfully completed the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers' course.
He progressed from working as a glazing foreman to his current position as production manager and is now involved in maintaining the company's quality assurance scheme.

Nicholas Bateman also recently made a presentation for Debby Addison, managing dispensing optician at Batemans Opticians' practice in Lewes, Sussex, to mark her 25 years' service with the company.
Addison started working with Batemans as a day-release student in August 1980, at the company's Brighton practice. She registered as a DO in September 1983 after she became manager of the practice in May 1992.
She was praised for building and maintaining the success of the practice over many years until she transferred to the Lewes branch in January 2005.
