Registrants will have greater say in future policy changes at the General Optical Council (GOC), according to the optical regulator, which last Thursday published a consultation framework outlining its commitment to achieve greater stakeholder involvement.

The publication of the framework comes at a time when the GOC is seeking views on areas such as whether practitioners should be legally required to report concerns about their own or a colleague's fitness to practise, as part of the Council's consultation into the changes to the codes of conduct for individual and business registrants.

The consultation document, which is designed to be a best practice guide for staff, sets out the principles on which the Council will involve registrants.
