The International Association of Contact Lens Educators presented the first IACLE Award for Lifetime Achievement in Contact Lens Education at a Gala Dinner at Manchester Museum on May 27 to mark the Third IACLE World Congress.
The inaugural award went to Professor Desmond Fonn (pictured), one of the original founders of the association and former director of the Centre for Contact Lens Research at the University of Waterloo, Canada. At the presentation his successor at Waterloo, Professor Lyndon Jones, described Professor Fonn as a ‘giant in the contact lens world’.
