The GOC's rules on publicity have long been a bone of contention and argument for some in the profession, but a recent volte-face by the Council in a case with Optical Express Central can leave no one in any doubt.
In recent times the regulations surrounding publicity have been viewed by many as 'one law for the rich and another for the poor'. Big firms and their big legal muscle, it was said, were able to bring much more persuasive arguments than small independents with none.
