
World Sight Day takes place on October 13 with a #LoveYourEyes theme and an aim to raise awareness about the importance of eye health.
Organisers, the International Agency for Prevention of Blind People (IAPB), said vision screenings will take place at parliaments around the world, including in Washington DC, US and Wellington, New Zealand.
Peter Holland, CEO OF IAPB, said: ‘World Sight Day is always an important opportunity to raise awareness for eye health on a global scale. It serves as a reminder to take care of our own eyes and helps inform the world that there are still over a billion people on this planet who cannot get the eye care they need.'
