Dr Waqaar Shah has been appointed clinical champion for eye health by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).

Dr Shah will lead the RCGP's clinical priority drive for eye health for three years and will focus on ageing and sight loss.

He said: 'I am delighted to champion this great project and I am looking forward to working with GPs across the UK to help them to identify sight loss at an earlier stage. By working together to achieve this we can help to significantly improve patient's lives and prevent suffering from other issues such as falls and depression which have strong links with sight loss.'
