RCOphth survey shows improvements in cataract training

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) has praised Newmedica for its cataract programme for trainee ophthalmologists, following its second survey of its ophthalmologists in training group.

The survey showed that access to cataract training in the independent sector had improved – with Newmedica said to have played a central role in this development.

According to the College, 90% of trainee representatives believed that training in ISPs had been a positive experience, with particular value placed on the size of theatre lists and teaching quality.

Newmedica medical director Nigel Kirkpatrick shared: ‘At Newmedica, as a long-term partner to the NHS, we are committed to continually developing our training programmes and welcome the positive feedback from the Royal College’s research.’
