A Wirral optometrist is urging practices to only accept frames for glazing if presented with proof of purchase to make it harder for thieves to turn stolen optical products into cash.
Lynn Daly of LM Daly Opticians is backing Opticiane_SSRqs call for practices to insist on seeing a receipt or similar proof of purchase (see Comment, page 12) if a frame is brought in for glazing. This would help make stealing ophthalmic frames from optical practices much less attractive to thieves.
Daly's practice was recently broken into by two hooded men who smashed through the front door and took high value ophthalmic frames.
