Heart Eye Diagnostics has released a cardiovascular (CV) risk assessment tool which uses retinal imaging-based based artificial-intelligience (AI) algorithm to predict future CV risks.
The tool is said to be a game-changer for opticians and hospitals as results are ready in three minutes. The technology is being further developed to provide information on other systemic health factors, such as kidney function, using other ocular biomarkers.
Husain Khaki, the director of Heart Eye Diagnostics, commented: 'Traditional methods like heart CT scans come with a lot of drawbacks for mass screening including high radiation doses, long wait times and expensive costs. This technology helps lower healthcare costs by catching potential issues early and preventing strokes and heart disease before they become serious.'
Free cardiovascular disease risk retinal scans will be provided at the Optix Conference, March 17-19 at The Celtic Manor in Wales.
