Demand for Essilor lenses in the UK has remained stable over recent financial quarters according to a statement from the French manufacturer.

Essilor reported first quarter revenue for 2010 of €905.8m, an increase of 7.8 per cent in comparison to the first quarter of 2009. With a positive currency effect of 0.2 per cent and a 5.1 per cent increase in revenue as a result of contribution from acquisitions, the like-for-like increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2010 was 2.5 per cent in comparison to 2009. In Europe revenue rose to €345.3m, a 0.7 per cent increase on a like-for-like basis over the same period in 2009.
