RNIB films dispel sight loss myths

News Charities

Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) has released a series of humorous short films as part of its See the Person, Not the Sight Loss campaign, which aims to dispel misconceptions about sight loss.

Blind and partially sighted actors were featured in the six #BeforeYouAsk films, which covered every day experiences including the workplace, romantic relationships, travelling on the night bus and watching football.

RNIB has also developed an interactive video chat, which goes live on November 2, where users can navigate up to 40 questions to hear the answers by blind and partially sighted people.

Vivienne Francis, RNIB’s chief social change officer, said: ‘We hope this campaign will go a long way to stopping both the misguided everyday questions blind and partially sighted people face but also the more deep-rooted misconceptions about the expectations, needs and wants of people with sight loss.’
