The charity’s My Voice report this week showed just 17 per cent of people experiencing sight loss were being offered emotional support.

Meanwhile, 39 per cent of blind and partially sighted people of working age say they have ‘some or great difficulty’ in making ends meet.

Fazilet Hadi, director of engagement at RNIB, said: ‘Lack of support, low employment rates, barriers to accessing information and difficulties in getting around all contribute to isolation and exclusion for people with sight loss.’
