The RNIB is to drop the distinctive white stick from its logo in a re-branding exercise to raise awareness of its work with the partially sighted.

The charity said this week that the repositioning was necessary because the current design suggested it only represented the interests of the blind.

'The aims of re-branding at RNIB include strengthening the cause of sight loss, repositioning RNIB, helping people understand the impact blindness and partial sight has on peoples' lives and making it clear that we are here to help blind and partially sighted people,' explained Ciara Smyth, RNIB head of communications.
