The RNIB has accused local authorities of seriously risking the health and safety of blind and partially sighted people by failing to supply vital equipment.

One in four registered blind and partially sighted people have not received any equipment in the last two years with three out of 10 having to pay for it themselves, according to the charity's report Equipment for Living.

RNIB's head of campaigns Steve Winyard said: 'It's totally unacceptable that thousands of people, many on low incomes, are not receiving vital equipment.'
