From social networking, internet surfing to reading messages, digital devices have become an integral part of our daily lives

rodenstockFrom social networking, internet surfing to reading messages, digital devices have become an integral part of our daily lives. Lens and frame manufacturer Rodenstock said the UK average user picked up their smartphone 221 times a day and has developed a new lens to improve relaxed vision.

A spokesperson for the German firm said: ‘A short reading distance and frequent changes in gaze direction between smartphone and environment require maximum performance from the eyes. In the digital age, more and more people complain of tired eyes, lack of concentration or headache.’

Designed to provide accommodative assistance for pre-presbyopes in the 30-40 years age bracket, the new P0.8 variant of the Rodenstock MonoPlus 2 lens features a small reading boost of +0.50 or +0.80 dioptres in the lower area of the lens.
