Vintage cars have provided the inspiration for the new additions to Rolf Spectacles' Basic Wood collection. The three new models, Elf, Sovereign and Cougar, have all been inspired by styling traits and parts of classic cars.
The shape of the grille from Mini-variant, the Riley Elf, was the inspiration for the Elf frame (1). The frame has a rectangular shape, with gentle angles and a dropped nose bridge.
The classic Daimler Sovereign (2) is the reference point for the Sovereign frame. Rolf Spectacles said the panto-shaped frame's links to the car were the smooth lines and materials used. The Cougar frame (3) pays homage to the classic American Mercury Cougar muscle car. The frame has a boxy, rectangular shape, reminiscent of the open-mouthed grille of the Cougar car.
The new models are available in four colour schemes - walnut, bog oak, maple/bog oak and robinia steamed. All models in the Rolf range go through a 78-stage manufacturing process, most of which is carried out by hand.
