In clinical trials held in Rome, volunteers given pills containing the spice over a three-month period showed signs of cell recovery and exhibited 'significant improvements' in their vision by being able to read one or two lines lower down on eye test charts.

Others reported that they could read books again, according to a report in the Daily Express on February 6.
