Safilens' daily option for astigmatism

Italian contact lens manufacturer Safilens will premiere its Fusion 1day Astigma daily lens at the BCLA next weekend.

The new lens for astigmatism features proprietary Sleekform design, which Safilens R&D manager Alessandro Filippo said was engineered to ensure precise, rapid and constant stabilisation, while at the same time providing the comfort and practicality of daily contact lenses.

The design is based on the pure prism, which the company said ensured minimal thicknesses and a uniform surface. In addition to limiting the mechanical strain associated with wearing contact lenses, this design trait was said to significantly reduce the issues related to differences in distribution of oxygen flow, typical of the designs currently available.
