Net sales at Safilo in the first quarter of 2023 amounted to ¤287.2m, up 1.6% at current exchange rates, and were driven by a strong performance in European markets.
The eyewear group said Italy, Spain and France delivered particularly strong revenue with sales of Carrera and Polaroid growing by 20% and 10%, respectively.
Safilo noted that performance in Europe more than offset the expected decline in revenues of almost 70% after EssilorLuxottica acquired GrandVision.
Angelo Trocchia, CEO at Safilo, said: ‘The first quarter of 2023 broadly met our expectations for the beginning of the year, reflecting the continuation of some of the main business drivers that had characterised the second half of last year.’
