Scrivens donates £35,000 to Alzheimer’s Society

Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care has donated £35,000 to Alzheimer’s Society as part of ongoing fundraising efforts.

It brought total fundraising to £65,000 since their partnership started in 2015.

Scrivens, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, said activities across its 183 branches included cake and book sales, fancy dress events, production of a charity calendar and design competition.

Chairman Nicholas Georgevic said: ‘I am very proud of the fantastic response from all colleagues and customers throughout the business. Alzheimer’s touches so many families in the communities we serve and the need for care and support continues to grow. We chose Alzheimer’s Society as our primary charity partner because we recognise the vital work it does and because of the growing evidence of a link between hearing loss and dementia.

‘I know our staff will once again rise to the challenge of raising awareness and vital funds for a charity whose cause resonates with us all.’

Ray Nash, senior regional corporate fundraising executive for Alzheimer’s Society, added: ‘We really appreciate the wholehearted support of Scrivens and are delighted our partnership will continue.’
