The new board, which will be chaired by Nicholas Georgevic, Scrivens' optical and finance director, will assume responsibility for managing the group's daily activities. Scrivens' chairman Alexander Georgevic commented: 'This represents a major step forward for the development of Scrivens. The combined expertise of the newly appointed board will help to grow and improve our business by creating a very secure future.' New members include: Bryan Day, the group's hearing director; Pat Bulger, operations director; Andrea Callaway, group marketing manager; David Harris, financial controller; and Stuart Spencer, recruitment and training manager. Two recently promoted employees will also join the board - Jeet Saimbi, professional services and contact lenses director, and David Hewitson, IT director. goodbye to a college institution Jenny Taylor has retired from her position as librarian for the College of Optometrists after a career which began 26 years ago. She started working as assistant librarian for the British Optical Association, and stayed with the library through the formation of the College and its subsequent relocations to different sites. Since her appointment, hundreds of students using the library for revision purposes have benefited from her knowledge and dedication. Gwyneth Morgan, College president, said: 'It is fair to say that Jenny is not just a librarian, she is an institution. The very large number of people whom she has helped and served will remember her with affection and gratitude.' Ms Taylor is succeeded by Jan Ayres, who joins from the Royal College of Midwives.
