Growth in audiology and a new accreditation have prompted independent chain Scrivens to amend its branding with a stronger emphasis on hearing.

The Midlands-based firm has changed its full name from Scrivens Opticians and The Hearing Company to Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care.

Its rebranding follows the award of contracts to supply NHS Hearing Services in 80 of Scrivens’ 152 branches in the past year under the new Any Qualified Provider (AQP) scheme.

Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care chairman Nicholas Georgevic said: ‘To date we have provided over 5,000 people with free NHS digital hearing aids under the AQP scheme and it’s this revolution that has led us to review our branding. From speaking to our customers they wanted clarity and recognised and valued the Scrivens name for professionalism and being customer and community focused. It therefore made sense to bring both the optical and hearing services under the Scrivens banner, giving a more natural link to our high street branches where the majority of our customer interaction takes place.’
