The second World Glaucoma Day will take place on March 12, with the aim of finding the 500,000 people who are estimated to have glaucoma and do not know it.
Moorfields Eye Hospital will be involved once again and will be carrying out glaucoma screening at the House of Commons, while the European Glaucoma Society will do the same in Brussels at the European Parliament.
Dr Faisal Ahmed, glaucoma fellow at London's Western Eye Hospital added that to date Specsavers and Boots Opticians had agreed to join in and put posters up and that there was the possibility that Royal Mail would put up posters at Post Office counters. 'They have 200,000 staff nationwide and have agreed to put posters in their offices and sorting branches at the least,' he said.
