seeing through colour

Yorkshire Optical Society's 2003 Owen Aves Memorial Lecture concentrated on spectral filters. Called 'Seeing through colour' it was given by Professor Arnold Wilkins, professor of psychology at Essex University. 'Spectral filters help not just dyslexics but also people with photosensitive epilepsy, migraine, autism, closed head injury and possibly multiple sclerosis,' said a YOS spokesman. 'Identifying those who could be helped was achieved either by the use of coloured overlays or the Intuitive Colorimeter, and in many cases the change in the rate of reading test was a useful measure for the effect of colour on the patient.' At the end of the lecture Professor Wilkins (right) was presented with the Owen Aves Memorial Medal by YOS president John Robinson.
