Seiko Optical UK has announced that two members of staff are the first people in Gloucestershire to complete the National Vocational Qualification NVQ level 2 in optical manufacture.
Paul Mason is responsible for procurement while Sarah Day is a member of the customer services team with responsibility for quality assessment and Seiko frame product.
City & Guilds is the first Awarding Body for optical manufacturing, with the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers acting as advisors to ensure the qualifications remain relevant to the needs of the industry, explained the company.
In April Seiko was also awarded the ‘Investors in People’ standard.
‘We are hugely proud to have been recognised in this way as we are such a very young company,’ said general manager John Conway.
‘We place great stress on the development of our people as this is the only way to deliver exceptional customer service. It is pleasing that the Investors in People board have confirmed that we are making strong progress in this respect’.
The award was presented to Martin Cooper of Seiko Optical UK by Terry Gibson and Sabera Badat of Business Link at the Gloucester Chase Hotel.
