Israel-based Shamir Optical has released positive second quarter results but warns that it cannot estimate the full impact of the current conflict on full year figures
Shamir's second quarter results for 2006 show a revenue increase of $24.7m (£13.04m), a rise of 22 per cent on revenues of $20m for the second quarter of 2005.
The progressive ophthalmic lens producer’s gross profit for the quarter was $13.7m, an increase of 22.9 per cent from gross profit of $11.2m in the same period last year.
Operating income was $2.0m for the second quarter, compared to $3.1m in the same period last year. Combined efforts to solidify Shamir’s new operations in Turkey and France resulted in a decrease in operating income of $1.4m in the quarter.
