Shamir results back market revival claims

An increase in both revenue and net profit for Shamir Optical in its unaudited financial results for the third quarter of 2009 provided further evidence that the lens market is experiencing a recovery.

Essilor had already reported in its third quarter financial results that a number of lens markets including the UK were witnessing a revival (News 30.10.09).

Shamir’s net income for the quarter ended September 31 increased 67.7 per cent to $3.7m compared to $2.2 during the same period in 2008. Revenue increased from $36.2m compared to $36.1m during the third quarter of 2008.
