Sheffield optom helps out with eye clinic for homeless people

Optometrist works with Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind on clinic for homeless people

A optometrist based in Sheffield has been working in conjunction with the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind.

Victoria Smith has helped 32 patients this year at the Archer Project, which is a clinic for homeless and vulnerable people run by the society. Frames have been donated by Dunelm Optical and lenses from Zeiss.

Smith said: ‘Since April I have been going to the Archer Project for homeless and vulnerable people, just behind Sheffield cathedral.I hold a clinic every other month, taking my testing equipment. The patients are lovely people, and so appreciative. It is a very rewarding thing to do and makes you feel as if you are giving something back to the community.’
