Sibling cyclists raise £1,000

Brother and sister optometrists Frances and Gareth Cooper cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats and raised over £1,000 for Vision Aid Overseas.

The Coopers travelled with friends over 1,071 miles and the journey lasted just over 17 days. Gareth, 27, works at Specsavers in Nelson, Lancashire, and Frances, 24, works for Clough's Opticians in Bolton.

'We went through loads of little towns and some big scary towns with lots of A roads. No one got knocked off and amazingly, we only got lost a couple of times,' said Frances.

'The longest day was 75 miles and the shortest 45 miles. There were a few sore knees but nothing that wasn't sorted out with Ibuprofen and a good night's sleep.'
