Signature for a fast response

Transitions

Transitions is launching what it claims in a new generation of adaptive lenses for everyday wear.

Signature VII lenses were more responsive to real-life light conditions, were more reactive to indirect light and achieved a darker tint especially in warmer temperatures, said Transitions. This was achieved while maintaining fast fade back times and excellent clarity indoors.

A patented molecular photochromic technology called Chromea 7 is at the heart of the new lens, which the company claimed was more responsive to light conditions. It does this by taking into account reflected light, geography, time of day, temperature and wearer's position.

New products project manager Derek Hoare said Chromea 7 consisted of three chromophores which separate when colourless and combine when coloured. 'These molecules are constantly active, recalibrating so the optimal amount of light reaches your eyes, including reverting to clear when indoors.'
