Signature makes a worldwide push with new sales divisions

US firm Signature Eyewear has set up a European sales office in Liege, Belgium to handle orders and ship Signature's designer eyewear product directly to European optical distributors and retailers.

The company has also set up a new international sales division at its headquarters in Inglewood, California. This move, coupled with the company's recent acquisition of California Design Studios, would virtually double the company's international sales, said senior vice-president marketing, Bob Fried. He added that the international sales division would serve existing customers in 30 countries worldwide. In one of a number of appointments, director of international sales Jon Holm will be responsible for the UK, as well as Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and the Netherlands. Signature Eyewear supplies Laura Ashley Eyewear, Eddie Bauer Eyewear and Dakota Smith Eyewear, all of which are distributed in the UK by Norville Optical. Norville's director of purchasing, John Conway, said that the company was pleased with the new distribution set-up, which would shorten the supply chain and help Norville to become more responsive to market trends.
