Than Wai of the Retina Medical Eye Centre in Surrey is the winner of a Toshiba laptop in Signet Armorlite's competition to name its new occupational lens.

The winning name SA-Xcel is an acronym for Signet Armorlite, eXcellent near and intermediate range, Comfort and clear wider central field, Enhanced vision up to four metres, Low distortion and long corridor.

'We put our trust in the optical profession to create a name for Signet Armorlite's new occupational lens and were delighted to see so many participating,' said Claire Cooke, SA's product marketing manager. 'The judges felt the name submitted by Mr Wai worked for everyone - Signet, the dispenser and the consumer.'
