Silmo organisers took part in a Fashion & Home Design event for trade show and industry professionals at the French ambassador's residence in London this week.

The event, with guest designers including Sir Terence Conran and Oliver Spencer, covered trends, British design and the vital role Paris trade shows play in highlighting new developments. Jean-Luc Margot Duclot, senior vice-president of the Paris Region Economic Development Agency, said the city was the world capital of fashion and home design. New visitor initiatives are a 'Welcome Pack' and shuttle buses.

Silmo's éric Lenoir described the Paris exhibition as three shows in one, with 60 per cent frames, technology and raw materials and lenses. He highlighted the focus of the Silmo d'Or awards on new products, ideas and materials, and the opportunity to learn at the show as well as buy, with the Silmo Academy.
