Siltint's GlareControl hits the high street

Siltint Industries has signed an agreement with Corning to supply its CPF (Corning Photochromic Filter) range of GlareControl lenses to optical practitioners in high street or hospital settings.

GlareControl lenses are specially designed to reduce blue light effects, whether emanating from the sun's rays or from VDUs or TVs. The lenses are claimed to be of proven visual benefit to those with glare sensitivity or with eye problems such as cataract, glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration, aphakia and diabetic retinopathy. Gerry Biggs, managing director of Manchester-based Siltint, said: 'We see the huge increase in the use of computers as providing potential sales growth for GlareControl lenses. 'The range complements our existing anti-reflection and tinted lens product portfolio and will be marketed strongly to realise the potential we know is there. 'We have already reduced prices in order to be more competitive and expect to see sales rise accordingly.' The range is available in single vision, progressive, bifocal and single-vision high index format, with anti-reflection coatings available on all lens types. In addition to Siltint, Gil Smith of Stockton-on-Tees based Low Vision Supplies will continue as a specialist supplier of CPF GlareControl lenses.
