Sir Elton John voted Spectacle Wearer of all time

A UK Specsavers poll of 2,000 members of the public voted Sir Elton John as Spectacle Wearer of all time for his extravagant eyewear choices. 

Eighty per cent of respondents said his glasses were memorable, 67% highlighted the bright frame colours that left a lasting impression, 60% said the spectacles were eye-catching due to their frame size, and 48% mentioned the sparkly embellishments. 

The research indicated fashion trends around glasses had increased, potentially due to pandemic impacts and inspiration from celebrity spectacle wearers, with 21% believing that glasses have become the coolest fashion accessory and 48% feeling spectacles have made a U-turn and are now what everyone wants to wear. One in 10 individuals were also inspired by a glasses-wearing celebrity when choosing their next pair.
