
Bradford-based student optometrist Haroon Zubair has been suspended for six months by the General Optical Council after his fitness to practise was impaired by reason of misconduct.
Zubair’s suspension related to his inappropriate use of a social media platform, which were reported anonymously to the GOC via email with screenshots of the registrant’s account.
In a letter to the council, Zubair apologised and said, at the time, he believed the posts to be ‘banter to my friends.’
He added that he now realised the implications of his conduct as a professional and had sought educational materials on using social media responsibly.
