A new course and qualification designed for senior optical assistants and supervisors in practice has been devised by the SMC.
The Level 3 Certificate, which has taken two years to develop, is described by the SMC as a much-needed qualification for practice staff who want to further improve their career prospects.
It involves a year-long distance learning course, with an optional examination at the end to achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Optical Practice Support. As a nationally approved qualification recognised by QCA in England, DELLS in Wales and CEA in Northern Ireland, it is the second benchmark in excellence, following on from the Level 2 Certificate in Optical Practice Support.
