Southampton optometrist suspended

Zbigniew Ashleigh, an optometrist based in Southampton, has been suspended from the General Optical Council (GOC) register for four months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found Ashleigh’s fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct in relation to sending an email to a Member of Parliament (MP) that was found to be discriminatory and racist.

The unsolicited email asked the MP where they were born and if they held a UK passport. Ashleigh has until April 5, 2023 to appeal against his suspension.
