The UK’s largest provider of NHS cataract services, SpaMedica, has achieved a key milestone at its Birmingham hospital by treating its 1,000th patient.

One of its 10 hospitals, the advanced facility in Birmingham opened in June 2018 and has since performed over 1,500 surgeries on 1,000 patients, with more than half requiring surgery on both eyes.

Kathleen Glynn from Sutton Coldfield was the 1,000th person to receive treatment. She said: ‘Everybody has been fantastic. From when you come in, to when you walk out, everybody’s just brilliant. I would recommend SpaMedica to anybody who wants their cataracts doing.’

‘To have reached 1,000 patients in nine months is truly an exciting milestone for us,’ said Emma Streete, area manager for the Midlands. ‘We pride ourselves on the care we provide to each and every one of our patients.’
