Specsavers and Synsam withdraw ReNu MoistureLoc in Scandinavia

Specsavers Blic Optik has withdrawn Bausch & Lomb’s ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens solution from all of its 40 practices in Sweden, as has the country’s largest optical retailer Synsam from its 150 stores.

One report suggested that Synsam had withdrawn the product across all 300 of its Scandinavian stores and a spokesman for Specsavers Blic Optik told OpticianOnline that Specsavers in Norway and its Louis Nielsen chain in Denmark would withdraw the product shortly, if they had not done so already.

The move follows Bausch & Lomb’s decision to suspend shipments from its plant in Greenville, South Carolina, pending the results of an FDA investigation into 109 cases of Fusarium keratitis across 17 US states.
