Specsavers co-founder Dame Mary Perkins took to the stage recently during the multiple’s biennial Awards for Excellence event at the ICC Birmingham.
Dame Mary was ‘levitated’ by alternative magician Sean Heydon. A spokesperson for Specsavers said she and Doug Perkins knew they would be on stage, but did not know what would be involved. ‘She said it felt really weird, particularly with her head tilting backwards as shown in the photo,’ they said.
There were more than 1,000 people at the event from the 70 practices that were shortlisted for the 10 awards. As well as the magician, the multiple hired actor Stephen Mangan as compere and after the dinner there was a live band.
