Nine awards in a range of disciplines were presented to Specsavers practices and the audience was treated to entertainment from aerial acrobats, pop-opera trio Tenors Unlimited and Sanjeev Bhaskar, star of TV's The Kumars at No 42.
Specsavers practices from around the UK and Ireland competed for the awards and the top accolade of practice of the year was shared by the Burton-on-Trent and Gloucester branches.
The employee of the year was Cardiff-based Lisa Edwards. Cardiff fared very well on the evening, its practice and staff received four nominations in all, including wins in the community practice of the year and contact lens categories.
Specsavers co-founder and PR director Mary Perkins told the audience that: 'Specsavers has always been about passionately providing affordable professional eye care to everyone.'
Doug Perkins gave an insight into the idea behind setting up Specsavers, telling the audience 'It is Mary's vision'.
