Specsavers has launched a locum booking app to manage busy work schedules across multiple stores.

Available for iOS and Android devices, the app means both optical and hear care locums can provide real-time updates on availability, check future bookings and be notified when a store opportunity becomes available.

Head of Specsavers recruitment services Rob Mould said: ‘We've made this substantial investment in new technology as we're seeing more and more optometrists turn to self-employed work as a way of life, and want to make it as easy as possible for them to work with Specsavers'.

The app is managed by Specsavers’ in-house recruitment team and locums currently registered with the recruitment service have automatically been sent access instructions.

Over 500 locums downloaded the app in the first two days of its launch.
