Specsavers lends Red Nose Day some helping hands

Specsavers commits to raise funds through the sale of novelty spectacles

In preparation for Red Nose Day later this month Specsavers has committed to raise funds through the sales of spectacles.

Giant replicas of the fundraising Red Nose Day glasses have been installed to create bespectacled storefronts in Maidenhead, Chiswick, Derby, Preston, Sheffield, Belfast’s Victoria Square, Glasgow’s Trongate, Guildford, Exeter and Cardiff’s Queen Street.

Meanwhile, human-sized Red Nose Day glasses – in adult size and children’s size – were available in Specsavers stores nationwide and cost £2, with all money raised going straight to Comic Relief. They were modelled this week by founders Dame Mary and Doug Perkins.

Christopher Shore, retail director at Specsavers in Preston, said: ‘Our giant Red Nose Day specs look brilliant. They have totally transformed our store and we’ve had a great reaction from passersby.
