Sehmi and his orthopist wife Amrit, also worked with staff at the hospital to administer free treatment to local residents who could not afford it. Following their work at the hospital, the couple also visited vision centres set up by the charity in rural areas of India.

‘Delivering the two guest lectures was also a proud moment for both me and my wife. To have the opportunity to speak in front of fellow professionals and aid the development of eye care in the country was truly amazing,’ said Gurjit.
