Specsavers pushes OCT offering

OCT technology at Specsavers is to be promoted by a TV advert

With optical coherence tomography (OCT) technology now available in 70% of its UK stores, Specsavers has launched a multi-million pound marketing initiative.

Specsavers has been installing OCT scanners across its stores since 2018, with all Irish practices and most of its British ones now able to utilise the technology. This installing initiative has been supported by training and mentoring for optical staff, with nearly 3,000 optometrists having completed online training and CET.

The marketing initiative includes a TV advert, which will run during prime-time programming on ITV, alongside radio and in-store material. Informed by Nasa’s use of OCT technology on the International Space Station, the TV advert shows an astronaut space walking with an OCT machine.
