Specsavers staff rescue anniversary plans

Staff at Specsavers Gyle made a 156-mile trip to hand deliver replacement spectacles to a patient

Members of the team at Specsavers Gyle hand-delivered a replacement pair of spectacles to one of their patients who had lost his pair while on vacation.

John Saunderson, 53, of Edinburgh lost his frames while paddle boarding on Loch Tay with his wife for their 30th wedding anniversary. When Specsavers Gyle received a call for advice the team decided to make a 156-mile trip to deliver a replacement.

Saunderson explained: 'I've worn glasses since I was 12 years pod, so it never occurred to me that I should've taken them off before my first attempt at paddle boarding.'

After falling into the loch's cold waters Saunderson realised that his frames had fallen off into the water, and that he wasn't able to drive home to Edinburgh without them.
